Poetry
In what I undoubtedly would call a rush assignment, I realized I had to do one more “project” with my students before tomorrow. I decided to let the kids write some poems, using a few literary devices we had just started learning about. Here are some of my favorite.
I am Louisiana
I am Louisiana
I have Hot Peppers growing like crazy.
- Zack D
Potato Haiku
We like potatoes
Fried potatoes are so good
Mashed potatoes too
- Nick J and Mikhayla G
That Cat Haiku
I don’t like that cat
When I see it I get mad
I want to sell him
- Chris M
Haiku (note: not really, good try though!)
Onomatopoeia
I like pie that is good
Brain power
- Hunter S
A Similie
Playing the piano is like a soft patch of puppy fur
- Mikhayla G
Alright… so as you can see, I’m a terrible teacher. Oh well, that’s what you get when you try to rush lessons. It’s fun though, because these are a lot more fun to read than any real poetry. (Nothing against poetry, though… I’m a big fan of it, but these are hilarious.)
