This summer I started going on walks around the neighborhood with my Mom when the weather was nice. On our journey one of our frequent companions was Henry, the neighborhood cat.
Now, Henry is no stray cat. He has a collar, a first name, and a family. I do not know the family, but they must be cool, because they have a Kitty-door on their front door for Mr. Henry to use. When we walked past his house he was usually outside napping, but would run over to us the instant he saw us. When he was inside, all we would have to do was call his name and he’d come prancing out happily.
He would only follow us for about 20 or so feet, because he was smart enough to know his boundaries. I think Mr. Henry must have a lot of friends around the neighborhood, because I’ve never met a cat basks in attention like Henry does.
Anyway, the day before coming back to school, I wanted to take a video of him. Unfortunately, he wasn’t too cooperative, (perhaps a bit camera shy,) but hopefully you get a slight idea of how cool Mr. Henry is.
At the end of the video, I believe I was saying “Some cats just aren’t cut out to be film stars.”
By the way, the title “Meeting Mr. Henry” is from a story in a basal reader that I taught in my 5th grade class. So it’s basically a bad joke that only I get.
